Largest annual food fight

On the last Wednesday in August the town of bunol near Valencia,Spain,holds it annual tomato festival, the Tomatina {above}.
In 1999, 25000 people  spent one hour at this giant food fight throwing about 125 tonnes of tomatoes at each other.Form the backs of lorries,attendants dump the red fruit on to streets for people to scoop  up and throw.
By the time the food fight is over , the streets and everyone on them is saturated with sloppy tomato paste.Rivers of tomato juice, as much as 30cm[12 inch] deep, run through the town until area fire engines come in to hose down the streets and the people on them.The Tomatina was first held in 1944.
Largest garlic festival.
The three-day Gilroy Garlic festival , held each summer in Gilroy, California, USA, attracts 130,000 peoples who can sample garlic-flavoured food ranging from meat to ice cream.
The event begins with the lighting of a 7.6-m-high[25-ft] garlic bulb effigy.
